"LEADING LADIES" by Marie August 10, 2007
Hi Leading Ladies!
Wasn't that hail storm at Hart Ranch something else? Karen Goldammer and Lynne Atchley both lost their back windows--what a mess! It was a good thing we carpooled and left many cars safe at Ruby Tuesdays. I don't think we'll ever sing "Baby, baby, it looks like it's gonna hail" without remembering that night!
(My hail damage was just over $3000. The insurance estimator and the auto-body guy both said "Wow" to three of my dents which were obviously caused by the softball -sized hail. I was soooo lucky I didn't lose any glass. All three of the BIG dents were at the edge of a window.)
Tuesday had two new guests Katie Mallett (lead) and Karen Thorp (bass). Welcome!
Judy worked with us on our two new songs (which are not so new anymore). We are definitely improving!
We all need to listen to our new ballad practice CD, take out the sheet music and/or whatever your learning method...just do it! Judy wants enough of us to be familiar with it, so singing it at rehersal will be productive.
This coming Tuesday, August 14, we'll be going to Sturgis to sing at the middle school. Everyone should meet in the Knecht's parking lot (by Albertson's) at 6:30 pm. Then there will be carpooling to Sturgis (hopefully minus the hail storm). Luanne said there'll be more details coming as soon as Bonnie gets back from her trip.
Gena asked everyone to dress as a "biker babe" when you go up there to Sturgis. (If you don't have any Sturgis stuff, just wear black.)
I'm really sorry I'm going to miss the next few weeks which should be a lot of fun. I leave for Germany next Wednesday, so Tuesday is my "packing night." I know you all will have a great time and the exposure should be wonderful for the chorus. I'll be coming back from vacation on Sept. 3 and hope to be at rehearsal on Sept. 4 (unless I have really bad jet lag).
No one volunteered to take on "Leading Ladies" while I'm gone, but Marie Strom was willing to take my pitch pipe and pitches list to do that for me. Her daughter Katie came to rehearsal tonight--she's five months pregnant (skinny girl looked like she had a volleyball under her shirt) and Marie was thrilled to introduce us to her future grandson Jordan.
Have a great end of summer! Auf Wiedersehen! |
